About The Role
THIS ROLE IS 100% OFFICE BASED AND WILL BE WORKING FROM OUR OFFICE IN ROTHERHAM - SOUTH YORKSHIRE
 
The Database Developer will be responsible for day to day operational support of DMSL database and reporting systems, proactively preventing problems and responding quickly to any issues as they may arise.  The Database Developer will be part of a team involved in the design, develop and implementation of database solutions, working on internal projects, and also with our clients.  To achieve internal & external SLA’s in the provision of client requirements, deliver process & procedure enhancements to deliver service excellence.  Adhere to regulatory, company & client requirements, promote a TCF & conduct risk centric culture.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Business Intelligence solutions that align with the corporate strategy
  • Ensure availability of SQL and SSAS servers providing third line support during and out of office hours
  • Participate in the support of SQL systems as part of operational and helpdesk processes
  • Design Business Continuity plans for the SQL and SSAS servers ensuring compatibility with other company plans
  • Ensure SQL servers are sufficiently flexible to respond to business needs
  • SQL Database Operational support to technical users
  • Ensure adequate testing and validation of changes and new development
  • Work with the business to develop clear requirements and working with the relevant teams to deliver appropriate solutions
  • Fully understand the MI reporting requirements of the business, challenging thinking as appropriate
  • Advise the business of the most effective way to provide the required information in a timely manner
  • Use a range of tools to meet the Business Intelligence needs of the business
  • Develop new information systems using appropriate toolsets to allow users to self-service their reporting requirements.
  • Work with other departments to develop new business models and provide support to existing models
  • Achieve the maintenance of agreed client service levels and standards
  • Analysis, design and build of systems processes and reports
  • Effective management of IT operational tasks
  • Develop data solutions that align with the corporate strategy
  • Ensure adequate testing and validation of changes and new development
  • Work with the business to develop clear requirements and working with the relevant development team(s) to deliver appropriate solutions
  • Advise the business of the most effective way to provide the required information in a timely manner
  • Use a range of tools to meet the Business Intelligence needs of clients and the business
  • Mentoring junior members of the team and stakeholders on the use of data
 

Knowledge/Experience

  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems.
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
  • Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.
