At Secure Trust Bank, our purpose is clear: to support our customers and partners responsibly while growing a sustainable, values‑driven business. As a long‑established UK bank with a strong heritage and a modern mindset, we know that our people are at the heart of everything we achieve.
We’re now looking for an enthusiastic and detail‑driven Financial Crime Operations Officer to join our team—someone curious, proactive, and motivated by protecting customers, preventing harm, and doing the right thing.
About the Role
As a Financial Crime Operations Officer, you’ll play a key part in our first line of defence, helping us identify, investigate, and mitigate financial crime risk. You’ll work across areas such as anti‑money laundering (AML), counter‑terrorist financing, sanctions, fraud, and anti‑bribery and corruption.
Every day will bring variety—from reviewing screening alerts to supporting investigations, from engaging with colleagues to liaising with law enforcement. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, takes pride in accuracy, and wants to contribute to a safer financial system.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Acting as the first-line point of contact for AML, sanctions, fraud, and anti‑bribery queries
- Reviewing customer screening alerts, including PEPs, sanctions and enforcement matches
- Identifying higher‑risk applications and undertaking enhanced due diligence where required
- Conducting ongoing monitoring of higher‑risk customers in line with the Group’s risk appetite
- Reviewing transactions and escalating any indicators of suspicious activity
- Investigating and preparing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and, where necessary, submitting them to the National Crime Agency (NCA)
- Liaising with law enforcement and relevant authorities to support investigations
- Investigating complex fraud cases, engaging directly with customers, retailers or agencies
- Supporting business areas to understand obligations under Group Financial Crime Policies
- Contributing to the wider mission of detecting, preventing, and disrupting financial crime at STB
What You’ll Bring
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds who share our commitment to fairness, integrity, and customer protection. You don’t need to meet every requirement to apply—if you have relevant experience and a willingness to learn, we’d love to hear from you.
Essential Experience
- Experience working within a financial crime function
- Understanding of the UK financial crime legal and regulatory framework
- Experience investigating SARs, DAMLs and submitting NCA disclosures
- Experience screening PEPs and Enforcement matches
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise workload and work proactively
Desirable Experience
- Familiarity with financial crime systems / databases
- Experience investigating complex fraud
- Ability to interpret and apply regulation in a commercial setting
- An industry‑recognised financial crime qualification
- Experience handling External Data Requests from law enforcement
Why Join STB?
- Be part of a growing bank with a strong purpose and clear values
- Work in a supportive, collaborative and people‑focused environment
- Develop in-demand expertise in financial crime prevention
- Build relationships across the bank and with external partners
- Access professional development and opportunities for progression
